Question of the Week? Part 2

For me, the answer is easy, but I would rather have a few minutes to talk about whatever they wanted to talk about…..  whatever was on his mind.  I would not want my favorite artist, Peter Gabriel, just to sing a few songs and leave, But to have a short conversation would be memorable indeed! His creativity, charitable works and world views would make for a very interesting interaction. My wife and daughter would love to have him serenade them with, “Here Comes The Flood.”

What about you? Who would you want to stop by? What song would you want them to sing?

    There’s this Pakistani singer Atif Aslam and his voice is so dreamy. He has sung the most romantic songs. I love him to stop by and sing his most popular songs.

    English-Maybe JLo or Beyoncé. Love both of em 😊

    Good grief, that’s a hard one, but I’d have to go with Prince. To sit and talk for a bit would be the highlight, and then to have him play a little piano and sing whatever came to his mind. Wow, what a great question.

        I play music most often when I’m cooking in my kitchen. I like to sing along with female artists. At one time, I would have said Kate Bush was the person I would want to get to know, but I was much more in tune with her work when I was in my 20s and 30s. Now, in my 50s, I really like the complexity of the music that Peyroux sings – the jazzy/bluesy bits and the homage to Piaf and Billie Holiday (at least for me). I love the entire album, “Careless Love”, but one of my very favourites of hers is “Lonesome Road”.

        As for Natalie Merchant, hers is such a rich and resonant voice and the genres that she sings quite diverse. My very favourite is a piece called “San Andreas Fault” and the ending is, to me, reminiscent of Pink Floyd or Alan Parson Project. All amazing stuff.

        HMMMMMMmmmmm…… I never pegged you for a Kate Bush fan. I will listen closer to Careless Love. Sometimes it takes me a while LOL. Thank you, that helps me to know a part of you a little better!

        P.S. If I could have Sting just come and play the entire “Mercury Falling” album, I’d be thrilled. Not sure I’d want to talk to him though. He seems a bit pompous to me. 😉

    Jon Foreman. Yup, there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind. I respect him so much not only for his music, but charity work as well. We’ve talked several times at shows and stuff his perspectives on certain topics are amazing (and that’s in a positive way). The beauty, honesty and depth of his songs are sometimes mind blowing. He packs so much into one song…one line. So he can sing whatever song he’s feeling that night and I’ll simply sing along with him.

    Definitely Ronnie James Dio. He could sing lots of songs like Holy Diver, Catch the Rainbow, Still I’m Sad, Temple of the King, Stargazer…he was an amazing artist and person. May he rest in peace.

    Hmm… That IS a good question… And I’m gonna give an answer that most of you have probably never heard of, but, on account of the fact that he’s such a top bloke, totally down to earth, and I just ‘relate’ to the stuff he writes, I’d have David Sneddon and I’d get him to sing White Noise… Just because, it’s quite beautiful… And I love that he doesn’t change his accent when he sings… His Scottishness always comes through. 😊

      I am always amazed how singers (and even actors) can change their accent or dialect to fit a part, but I love to hear the music in the natural voice – native – not homogenized. Thank you for the pick!

    This is easy…John rzeznik. I’d like him to come over and make his famous wings, which in buffalo they are just called wings.
    Then sing acoustic versions of his music, specifically become, Acoustic 3, I’m still here, broadway, sympathy, 2 days in February, oh my it’s going to be a late night….hope his wife doesn’t mind. I think that’s part of the whole I married a rock star package 😜

        Yea I figured you would know that. I’ve seen him make his wings on tv and there’s a local restaurant called Daryll house, yes john daryll. Johnny came to his house not far from me to sings songs for the show Darylls house. Question : what is Hq?

        Wow fans come before wives? I can’t figure her out. She’s always stage left and she rarely is in photos. And on her twitter page once in a while she’ll mention him. This weekend they are in buffalo. He did the suicide prevention walk with 64 people on his team including his wife. But in the pictured it’s just him and his fans. Maybe he prefers it that way or maybe they both do. That would not fly for me! When I went backstage I saw her and she just stays off to the side while he does his fan stuff. Once in an interview he said she works and has her own friends and does her own stuff, and then he said and that’s the way I need it and she knows that.

    There’s no way I could choose just one. I’d love to have a little chat with Ella, Lena Horn, Pete Townshend since I just read about him and Sting and since I looked at comments above of course Freddie Mercury and John Lennon, but I can’t forget Leonard Cohen and Rob Zombie would be a hoot, I’ll bet, and Frank Sinatra and some chanting monks… and at least a dozen more. How can I possibly decide?

        Yes! You’ve got me going now but my greed would cause me to have to get Jimi Hendrix. I saw footage of him play the guitar with his teeth and it was real.
