Aware – Endless Nights Are Gone

It’s hard to speak out when you live in fear.
You can’t protect me if you are never here.
You can not give me what you never had.
Juries rarely protect the good from the bad.

You can’t take me where you’re not willing to go.
You can not teach me what you don’t even know.
It’s better to be quiet, kneel down and pray
And then hope to god that it all goes away.

But I can take care of myself.
I’ve learned from people like you.
Now, I can take care of myself.
I am aware, like you.

Learn to hold on to me and to never let go.
There’s so much inside me I want you to know.
Hoped to support you and not get in your way
I tried to stay quiet when there was so much to say

You helped me take care of myself
And I always believed in you.
Now we can take care of our selves
Aware; our children, and you.

So many secrets are whispered, then buried inside
You keep on running but just want to curl up and hide
You know you have the answer but you don’t have a clue.
You had it right once but couldn’t believe it was true.

The past is hidden but has still taken its toll.
Stand up and look around at the beauty of it all.
Every day is better and the endless nights are gone.
Face each day as you did the last, dedicated and strong.

This reminds me of a song I wrote called I Hate To Tell You Buddy. I thought of it as a note to myself. Any chance you are just leaving notes to your self?

This is fantastic! Is it a song or a poem?
I like how it flows. I get the sense the narrator is saying goodbye, yet saying hello to them self. It moves from sad to empowering. Nice!

I have no idea what you are talking about, but I love how you think. You have a gift for writing “cryptic” lyrics–pretty puzzles of meaning and feeling about an issue that remains undisclosed. The listener can inject his/her situation, and recieve a personal message that hits home.

Endless Nights is full of advice, but it is written in a personal style. That’s part of your magic. You can make abstract statements–like “I am aware”–personal. That’s practically impossible.

The story line will be the chorus: I learned from you, now I am aware. Some imagery will drive it home. Earth & Sky. Burried in ground and Endless Nights.

I do have a habit of mixing firm jabs of logic or clarity inside topics of obscurity. This way people will think I know what I am writing about! The result as you mentioned is hopefully being able to apply the mood of the lyrics to personal subjects or experiences.
The lyrics have potential. It just needs a little more attention. Great comments, thank you bunches!

Who can turn away from that?

    It makes your magic.
