In frequent conversations with my family we talk about articles and posts from fellow bloggers and how glad we are that we have met an amazing group of talented people. Many of us have challenges to deal with and we use creativity to describe and/or deal with those challenges. You never fail to amaze and inspire me. From articles that are so funny I can’t stop laughing to personal experiences that are so moving I try not to cry, I look forward to your blog posts and comments. There are those in this community I will keep learning from. The more we learn of each other, the more natural it would seem if we could actually meet.
That is when our conversation shifts to what would you do if you won the lottery or big inheritance (the latter is not possible for me – but still more likely than winning the lottery!!)? We discussed that it would be really cool if we could arrange a common time and place on the globe where we could all meet. Or travel the globe and meet you each one at a time. It would be amazing for me to compare my internal images of fellow bloggers and compare them to actually meeting you. I feel like I know many of you already and I do not think that I would be very surprised by the ‘person’ you are. But I’ll bet in spite of my internal images, I would not recognize any of you if I met you on the street! I would love to record and document the entire meeting. Interview everyone, even have you sing on a few of my songs if you are up for it. Create a community blog of the event. Give promised hugs to a number of you. To see the eyes behind the words. To hear you laugh.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the blog and the openness we can achieve by that same separation. I don’t want a bunch of you knocking on my door at all hours – though I might want to knock on yours!!
Gotta go now and buy my lottery ticket!
great writing

Love the picture. Is that guitar part of the sculpture or is is yours? Love the idea of a global blogger meet-up. 🙂

Thank you! The guitar is one of mine (I actually gave it to Alisa) but I currently ‘take care’ of it! Cool, if I ever win the lottery I will be contacting you!

I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a few bloggers already and am looking forward to meeting a few more next weekend. If you’re ever in the Southern California area, I would hope that you would look me up. Where are you located? Good luck with that lottery!

that is so cool! I am jealous! I get to CA every once in a while and am dying to get back to Yosemite. I have pictures I took all over my office at work. I am in Southern Ohio (no claim to fame!) but I guarantee I will contact you if there is even a chance to meet!

Oh, yes, been to Cleveland a couple of times and my husband’s from Indiana right near the border of Dayton. We don’t get back there that often though.

I wouldn’t either if I didn’t have family here! Partially kidding……! I am in Cincinnati, so very close to Dayton.

Hey, you know Ohio is better than Indiana…at least if you base it on where my husband comes from.

It would be great to meet you in person MidiMike! It’s funny, I stumbled across your blog while looking for stuff related to MIDI I think, I cant quite remember but now I call you a friend! One day I’m sure we will meet up for a jam! Imagine if every blogger met up in a massive communal festal of some kind, it would be fantastic. Thank you for your blog too, I get quite a few visitors that have found my site from yours so I am very grateful for that. I hope that people have found your site through my blog too!

I could not agree more, Sam. Thank goodness for stumbles! You were here almost from the very beginning of my blog. I know we would have great stories to share! I love recording as much as i do performing and would take you up on that in a heart-beat! If I can serve as a conduit for others of similar interests to connect then this is all the more rewarding, so I appreciate you letting me know. Yes, indeed, I find your followers as well. My house is your house, my friend!

I agree with you dear Mike, you almost shared what I think too. This is amazing world. From different countries, and cultures we have friends… yes, it is like that, friends… I have met some of my followers in real life, we met in my city and also in UK too… But I try to imagine, to meet with all blogger friends in somewhere else in the world, it would be so nice… You are one of my blogger friends, I learn, I travel, I enjoy with your posts… Thank you, love, nia

I envy the ability to meet bloggers as you have. I have true friends here, and count you as one. I did not win last week’s lottery, but I am still trying. The global dimension is so enlightening. To hear perspectives I had no previous concept of, but have gained deep appreciation for. Thank you so much for sharing this path through life with me. I know more, have become a better person and more inspired having known you. One day I would love to be there to meet you and your other blogger friends!

Thank you. This statue is in a small park very close to my house that almost no one knows about. I really enjoy it and find it calming as it reminds me of ‘simpler times’. I have had many ‘conversations’ with them.

Good luck with the lottery ticket – and hop over to South Africa bringing the family in tow! You’d all love it! And we’d love to have you here …

It really is amazing how the internet has extended our reach so that we can very easily connect with people all around the world. I never tire of the opportunity to meet new people and share in their life’s stories.

My eyes have been opened to so much. Between culture, landscape, music and art, there is so much to learn from our international counter-parts. You are the wise one to know this!

What a great idea! I need a lottery ticket too.
Let’s all bring our instruments and rock out!

MidiMike, I think “Sam” is talking about a “Woodstock” of sorts.. at your house:) When you start mentioning “Cincinnati” and music, I start thinking about Dr. Johnny Fever:)

On target! Woodstock it is. Lots of musical talent in Cincinnati, or as I like to call it; itannicnic!

I had a great experience getting to meet, in person, two women I got to know through an online writing group. When I traveled to the UK we met up. One of them spent the day showing me around and then we met up with the second person for drinks. It was such fun, and they are both the most delightful, lively Welsh women anyone could ever hope to meet.

Hearing of experiences like yours I thought it would be really fun to do that on a large scale. Unfortunately it would take winning the lottery to pull that off! I am glad others have been able to do a face to face meet.

A big group gathering would be great. As you say though, finances and logistics too would be difficult. And it would be especially cool with your group, because with all the muscians it would probably become a huge jam session!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Agreed! Once logistics and financing is out of the way (Yeah right!) we have talented people to write lyrics or poetry, graphics, musicians, recording enthusiasts and some of you are great at marketing too! It could actually pay for itself! I can dream!
