My wife and I have lived here for decades and visit a neighborhood park frequently. Another walk to the park yesterday and as usual we stop by the small fish pond. We have never seen ducks in this pond before. So we get to the pond and there is obviously a territorial challenge going on here. I did not start filming right away and missed the more dramatic displays. But this was still cool, especially after recently filming the Red Tailed Hawks training the young how to dive bomb ground targets by practicing on the parent!
Clearly, the challenger was not going to have an easy time, but that did not stop him from showing off his assets.
Enjoy another chance encounter with our feathered friends!

I’m sorry, Mike, I wasn’t able to see anything here. The screen is black and when I clicked on the play arrow nothing happened. But I remember your recent great video of the red-tailed hawks….

I’m happy to see you conquered the tech snafu, Mike, because this was a really fun mallard event at the pond. The first time he got shooed away and scurried out of the pond, I wondered if he would leave. But no, he shot right back in again. Made me smile. Thanks for the entertaining encounter.

I was just too quick when I copied the link. I wish I had recorded as soon as we got to the pond. The two males were at it for a while, but never far from the female! It was fun to witness in an unusual place. They did not care that my wife and I were there at all.
