About Me

From the day my mother gave me my first musical instrument at the age of five, I became a musical sponge.  I learned any instrument I could get my hands on and it didn’t take long before I was repairing and connecting instruments to PA systems.  By 15, I was recording my original songs on reel-to-reel.

Years later, while managing a local music store, I was given the opportunity to perform with the areas most talented musicians, including The Merchants Of Death, Euphoria, Harry Strawberry, Crash Landing, It, and Tellin’ Ellen, The Chase and I haven’t stopped since.  I currently write and record all of my own original music in my home studio.

My latest album, Before The Chase, is available now through iTunes and CD Baby. This is an original acoustic rock album recorded with an Ovation 12-string guitar.

Stopped by to thank you for your recent like and follow on Shift Key and check out your blog. Good stuff. Enjoy music; can’t play; can sing some, e.g., in a choir or car. Yet, after reading your “Aware -…” poem, we may have more in common than first thought. Enjoying your work. Thanks.

  10. Thanks for finding and liking my first blog post on a new/old blog. I’m switching over because I had two wordpresses and one got no attention! (Poor thing.) So I’m giving it it’s own home and hoping I can stay up to date on both. What a challenge! I’m happy to have found another music lover/needer! I am perpetually jealous of musicians because I have no ability in that area. But, I guess musicians need listeners, too, so I can’t wait to listen to your songs!
Thanks again and looking forward to the follow!

Ha! Sometimes you have to kick the birds out of the nest and see if they fly. Good luck in the New Year! My sister says she can play CD’s, but that is about it LOL. We appreciate the audience and feed off of the response and support. I posted a few songs and have more to share, so take your time and listen anytime. You are very welcome and thanks for keeping in touch!

Howdy! Thank you so much. I started that way…… describing myself as a listener. Then as a poet, then as someone who loved harmonies. Keep going and you might surprise all of us! You are very welcome, and please feel free to stop by any time!

Sounds great! A man and his guitar is the best!
Did you see Adele grammy performance? What the heck happened with the sound guy?
First her mike cut out and then the sound was too loud and there was a loud guitar sound. It was so loud you couldn’t enjoy her voice. I actually had to lower it. She looked ruffled. I bet she was pissed. She has a potty mouth and I bet she was cursing up a storm. What’s your professional opinion?

Ok so rumor is the guitar was justin bieber tuning his guitar on another stage. He played right after her. It was so weird bc it was just her and a piano and you could hear this acoustic guitar but you didn’t see it. Why do I care about this? Ugh I need to go to sleep.

I did not see the performance, but there is usually a reason for these things. I have had similar nightmares though and there is little time to find the problem sometimes impossible to fix on the spot.

Glad your are doing well. I too am trying to get back to a routine. It’s a lot of starts and stops. My therapist tells me it will take time and to be gentle and patient with myself. It’s a huge upheaval as you know. One day I workout and one day I clean and then a week can go by and I do nothing. Thinking about the future is scary and all the unknowns freak me out. Baby steps….

I think of this as one might need to go through physical therapy. Muscles and bones do not recover over night. It takes time to train the muscles new ways of moving without pain. Your body compensates for weak muscles by working others harder. We just need to make sure we do not over-stress those muscles in the process. Baby steps is a good plan for emotional and financial recovery as well. Good way to think about it. Work-out …….then relax. Strain and then a reward! Works for me LOL

At work they called me ‘the analogy king’. I find it easier to explain or understand things if I can frame it in a familiar experience for comparison. We tend to see physical issues easily. It is understandable, but at times unfortunate. Hang in there!

Adele said the piano mic fell on the piano which was causing that weird sound. The sound guy said when switching to her mic and it went out, he switched to a backup but it took a while to get the sound right. Adele wrote on her twitter: The mic fell on the piano keys. Shit happens!

I describe the job of the sound engineer as a delicate blend of science, art and good luck! We can plan all we want. We can get all the right equipment. We can study all the charts and graphs and studies done.
Everything seems fine until we add people and the inevitable interference from Murphy’s Law! I am a firm believer of having Plan B and Plan C ready when needed for these situations. Artists can get angry or take it gracefully, but it does not change the unpredictable nature of our job. Chalk it up and move on, as this will probably never happen again – and we need to prepare the next Plan B!

Makes sense! Of course things will happen. Adele said she cried the next day. But she wasn’t angry. So excited two more days to get my goo goo dolls tickets. This will be the first year in many years that I won’t be going to the Jones Beach show, which stinks. I love that venue. But the date doesn’t work, so I’m going to saratoga performing arts center. Tickets are cheap too. Hope your daughter gets tickets!

I am actually going to see my musical ‘hreo’ if that is the word. Mentor might be closer. I have not been to many concerts in the last decade or so and I a looking forward to seeing Peter Gabriel in June. I thought I had missed every chance to see him perform live and this came up. I could not live with myself if I missed this last opportunity. Have fun at the show. Reward and all that!

I enjoyed the links. I would like to get an idea of your thoughts. Are you looking for someone to write lyrics with, create songs and melody, record and perform/play new songs or to work on material you already have? Let me know where I can help or what you would like to accomplish and I can start moving in that direction. Thanks for your patience…. these things always take longer to start than I hope, but once I start I can move pretty fast LOL!

Since your comment I also looked around and see few independent musicians. With so much bands need to do these days to be successful, this is probably lower on the list. Successful blogs require thought and precious time.
You should do the ReverbNation thing. (I link to mine on my main page…) Even if you just want to listen to new and fresh things. Some are gems already polished and some could be redone with better resources. Either way, you can post your sound tracks and other instrumental arrangements and listen to all sorts of music you will not hear anywhere else.
