What was your favorite subject in school?
Unfortunately for me, I changed schools often. So that depended on how good the teacher was in that particular subject.

English was my favorite subject for the longest because of my teacher Mrs. Lilly Rao, I’ve always admired her and wanted to be like her some day. She was an epitome of an intelligent & elegant woman.

My favorite subject in school would have been history, there is just something about it. I feel like you can’t possibly know where your going, unless you first understand where you have been.

I’d have to say sex education. The teacher stretched a condom over the full length of a broom handle and made us all feel very inadequate. It was in a food technology kitchen too which doesn’t seem the most hygienic place to have have contraceptives ricocheting off the ceiling…

In high school we had an agriculture class. We called it Ag and I loved it. We had baby animals in class all the time. We talked about growing food and caring for livestock. Now here I am with a garden and homesteading blog

As a nature blogger, my favorite subject in school was undoubtedly biology, especially the units focused on ecosystems and wildlife. The intricate relationships between different species and their environments always fascinated me. Learning about the diversity of life, from the tiniest microorganisms to the largest mammals, and understanding how each plays a role in the balance of nature was both captivating and inspiring. This early passion for the natural world fueled my desire to share its wonders and importance through my blogging, encouraging others to appreciate and protect our incredible planet.

I enjoyed taking a earth science class when I was in the 9th grade 22 years ago or Fall 2001. I had a book that I liked reading, highlighting, and taking notes. Another class I enjoyed taking was web development from DeVry University Online back in Spring 2013. I wished that I had learn more about PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, HTML, etc.

It depended on the teacher and their capability on how well they could teach the class. If they could present the material in a way that was engaging, challenging, yet interesting, it was a good class. Bonus points if they made jokes!

Grade school: reading. Middle school: English. High school: creative writing. College: English lit. Continuing education: creative writing.

Auto Shop was the best for me!! It was always the class i looked forward too, almost like getting off school haha.

English, Grammar and anything related to these. I realized (years later) that History fascinated me too. I just hated all the memorizing we had to do with dates, places, and people’s names.

Well you can weave those three together all day long and still be fascinated! I agree with the memorizing names and dates though. Stories and the lessons from history I love. I just couldn’t t to tell you who did it lol.

I loved Literature (Lit), exposed me to a world of incredible writing (Salinger, Shakespeare, Vonnegut, Bukowski) and improved my English skills exponentially.

Technical drawing – I guess it’s called CAD now? Straight ‘A’s, won the year prize every year. Only thing I’ve ever been good at.

That is a great one. Back then it was more magic than science lol. Today’s programs seem to make what you did look very easy but the basics are probably very similar. I’m glad you got good at something you like to do. Thank you for your post.

I loved Home economics, it’s un hearting that our school systems have been alienating the classes of textiles, home economics and even debate classes amongst the earlier “JR” highs in the country. Those are interaction classes. Those classes are based on the fundamentals of collaboration and teams. They need to be a more dominant class in our school system, I believe.
Now I want to bake bread. 🙂

Well said, and I couldn’t agree more. I come from an older generation obviously and I do appreciate some of the basic lessons focusing on day-to-day success. Even balancing a checkbook is something people have just never heard about let alone had to deal with! Thank you.

History! American History to be exact. I inherited my love of history from my dad, so I always got high marks in every History class I took, both in HS and in college.

For me, it was not the subject, it was a teacher who left a forever impression on my soul. We would talk before and after class, I remember missing the school bus to go home a few times. He was a Mathematician, and a Very notable philosopher/ Scholar. Our spirit has stayed in contact over the years and that Man will always be dear to me.
He saw something in me, A shine he took, and would revel in our conversations together. I often think about Him and His journey. He would have loved to have the means of communication that so many take for granted in today’s technological realm of literature.

Thank you for your experience. That is a good reminder for me as well. There were a number of teachers who absolutely did impact me positively, and I would have loved to have kept in touch with them over the years. But 50 years ago and moving so often that was not an easy thing for a preteen or even teenager to do well lol.
I often think I would have developed those relationships and I am glad to see examples of successful ones.

I really enjoyed school and I loved almost all of it. I don’t really know what my #1 favorite would be, but I like Maths, IRLA(Language Arts) and Science throughout school.

Journalism. Biology, Math. I enjoyed my teachers more than school itself. I feel I learned from them alot that they didn’t teach inside of class. In a good way of course. Mostly.
