Last call…..

Going twice……

Going once…..

Real Navigation Instructions

Some time ago I was on a trip and opened up Google Maps on my cell phone. I put in the address and after traveling for about fifteen minutes I heard a notification I did not understand. I wanted to see what my next turn was………

As I got closer to the exit I did not recognize the highway or route other than I 74 in the top left corner. It said I was in Cincinnati …

I have never seen these routes and highways in Ohio, let alone Cincinnati

I know the city fairly well and it was no panic but if I was on the road in an unfamiliar area and I had a turn in less than 2 miles that showed a highway not in the region and not even believable, I would have been in trouble lol. I slowed down and stopped to take a couple screen shots.

As I got closer I took a screen capture of the mystery highway direction

I saw this recently in my photos and thought it might give you a bit of a laugh.

As a country and culture, we seem to be obsessed by thoughts of and even planning for the Apocalypse.  I guess it is for good reason and it makes for great movies, books and TV shows.  I might be the only person that has not watched Living Dead and other shows.  So, Zombies aside, I have been thinking of a world with no power, running water, cell phones and the other modern tools we take for granted every day.

There are a few things I would really miss if/when technology fails us.  Way up there would be hot showers in the morning…….  I would really miss that.  Without a really hot shower, it would be hard for this old body to move each day.

What would you miss the most?

That took courage.

For me, the answer is easy, but I would rather have a few minutes to talk about whatever they wanted to talk about…..  whatever was on his mind.  I would not want my favorite artist, Peter Gabriel, just to sing a few songs and leave, But to have a short conversation would be memorable indeed! His creativity, charitable works and world views would make for a very interesting interaction. My wife and daughter would love to have him serenade them with, “Here Comes The Flood.”

What about you? Who would you want to stop by? What song would you want them to sing?

You may think this funny, but my first real concert was a Grateful Dead concert.  I was seventeen or eighteen at the time.  I had seen bands perform at parks or other small events, but this was my first concert.  The thing I remember most to this day were the huge balloons that the audience and band members would smack back and forth the entire evening.  I was not that familiar with their music but I had heard references (“It’s not for lack of bread, like the Grateful Dead; dying”, from the musical play Hair, which I also saw!) but had not really heard much of their music before.

The second thing that I noticed was how communal the audience was.  It is unlike other concerts.  Everyone was friendly and happy to be there.  It was a different group of people.  They enjoyed the music, enjoyed the event and everyone got along.  I wish more of the concerts I have seen had audiences that resembled The Grateful Dead fans.

What was your first concert? What do you remember about it?
