What are your favorite brands and why?
I don’t have any favorite bands anymore. Growing up in the ’50s and ’60s, there were great bands and you could buy anything they released and would be happy with your purchase for decades. These days, I don’t listen to bands. I don’t have favorite bands. I have great songs that I listen to by a number of various groups, but there is no band that consistently impresses me.
It will sound like sour grapes, but today’s music industry does not allow creativity. They only want guaranteed return on investment.
I’m with you Mike. No favorites. I did like the 70’s rock music. These days I guess I listen to oldies and Christian radio top 10. I kinda liked the 80’s too Anything after that just became a blur.. lol. Country music even changed or evolved I guess. If it sounds good I’ll listen. Maybe since we don’t have 8tracks and cassettes anymore it kinda ruined it all.. Rock on Mike..

There are solo artists that I truly enjoy. And there are a few groups that have something new to offer. I couldn’t agree more. Thank you very much for your comment.

A rather cynical take, I must say. I have lots of favorite bands. While legendary bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones will always rank on top, as far as more current bands, there are many I love, including Green Day, Twenty One Pilots, Cage the Elephant, Foals, Lord Huron, Beach Weather and MISSIO, to name some off the top of my head.

I appreciate your visit! But this is not cynical at all. If you look back at songs written decade ago, you will find that the cord structures and arrangements are much more complicated and less repetitive than those of today. If you look at the lyrics from songs from decades ago, you will find that they are much more creative, complex and tackle many other subjects then popular artists today.
While I have a number of those bands and groups on my playlist and as a cover band I have played many of them as well, there is a kind of depth that is missing. I can enjoy music recently published, but the majority of songs on a particular release don’t all have the same impact these days. Thanks again I appreciate your comments.

I don’t have a favourite band either. But I love 90s alternative as a genre. Candlebox, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins and even Pearl Jam have a few good songs. Then there are softer songs by Sister Hazel, Counting Crows and Blues Traveler.
