Close to my house is a small city park. We would take the girls and our cat Taz for a walk there pretty often when they were young. It was a safe place for them to play and still be close enough to home to hear me whistle for them. There is actually another story there but it will wait to be told. Neighborhood kids would frequent the park as well.
A small creek ran through a valley in the center of the park, but it was usually pretty dry. The bottom of the creek created Peanut Butter Hill. When it rained the muddy side of the tall hill looked just like peanut butter so that is how it got its name. That is when all the kool kids came out to play a local game. The song says the rest, but only two people managed to make it all the way to the top with their hands in their pockets; myself and my daughter.

This brings back my own childhood memories living in an English village.. My mother would whistle us back home when it was bedtime or meal time. 🙂
Peanut butter hill sounded a great place to have fun when it rained.. 🙂
Thank you for sharing.. ~
OH and we have a cat he follows my hubby back and forth to our allotment veggie plot.. So I smile when you said your cat Taz would also walk with your girls.. 🙂

I am glad you had similar comments. When my girls were young they knew that they could not roam any further than they could hear me whistle for them lol!
Not much of Peanut Butter Hill exists these days, but it was sure a lot of fun. I appreciate your comments and your visit. It sounds like you have a pretty good life.

Village life growing up in the late 50’s to 60s was good.. Sadly I had to leave the village when I got married… As house prices were too high,
But yes Life has been good and I have some fond memories of running free on our village countryside.. Life was much safer to roam back then. I dare say parents today in the same village wouldn’t allow their children as much freedom as we enjoyed
Thank you for your kind reply..
And look forward to more posts
