Simple life observations, simply stated.  I need to make a song out of this.  Clear relatable topics with good conclusions.  I look at my life trying to figure out why I do or don’t do certain things. How I look at things differently than others and how I miss so much others know intuitively.

Even in 1985, I was writing about getting old and knowing time is limited.  But I’m still singing at 70 years old!

It is easy to feel and see desperation looking at global events.  Seeing all your efforts wasted.  Your trust misplaced.  You ask ‘why’ and ‘how’ but it all comes down to money.  They might not be able to buy YOUR soul, but they already cashed in on theirs.  Now they can buy others.

When talking about my job, (yes, I have always had a regular job!) I would say that I DON’T HAVE ‘BAD’ DAYS.  I might have a very difficult or stressful and challenging day, but they were never really BAD.

This poem and song represents how you would ‘like’ to be telling the story after a really bad day.  No traffic jams or confusion.  You would stay with me and we would be happy.  But you left anyway!

This was not my first poem and song about the environment before the globe started thinking about global warming or climate change, and it was not the last.  Most people can live their life and not have a negative impact on anyone.  Most companies can do the same thing as well, and treat the community as neighbors.  Oil, tobacco, big pharmacies and a million more are not interested in you.  If this keeps up the human race could be putting Mother Earth in a life-threatening delivery and she may need to stop the birth before any more harm is done.

I am chronologically challenged.  I often remember events but not in the proper time sequence.  Memories are tricky things.  Especially when memories are all you have left.

For me, some memories exist beyond time.

They are.

They remain.

Some people are like that, no matter how often or rarely do we meet.

There are some interesting concepts here and some very fluid lines in this piece, but I really don’t know what the message is.  I mean I have the usual references to social injustice, the system, the powerful and all, but not sure where it was headed.  I must have worked hard on the rhyming scheme though!

It was clear early in grade school that I was not like the other boys in a lot of ways. My parents were smart, and they didn’t treat us like babies. We learned fast. The metoo movement was founded in 2006, but did not make it to the national scene until 2017. I guess this was a supportive song before I knew the movement existed.
In some ways, most guys were ‘an easy act to follow’. But in reality, too many women think ALL men are like that. Sometimes they just find out too late. So they are always suspicious. Always trying to catch you in a lie. Trying to separate you from others that might be considered ‘a threat’ or temptation.
You end up defending yourself for nothing all the time, because in their eyes, all guys are guilty – eventually.

Just a comedic look at the life of a man who gets told ‘NO’ too often. Growing up spoiled doesn’t help much. The poem and posted song ends with a catchy phrase and a unique look at our possessions and personal contact.

This poem is a strange look at a relationship where everything fits. For those relationships where you don’t have to have anything special planned. You don’t need movies or fancy dinners.
So there is a long list that grows of things you enjoy doing together. But the top of the list is doing any of them or none at all…….. with you.

Another real-life drama turned into poetry and a blues ballad. I usually see the humor and satire in a situation, if any exists. I can understand someone wanting to leave me, but it is a LOT easier to understand why they would want to take my stereo! Time to realize the mistake and cut my losses as soon as possible.
