I really enjoy posting pictures of new growth after a cold winter in southern Ohio. I know it gets worse – or better – elsewhere but we can get some pretty extreme weather from time to time. Most winter days here are cold, drab, grey, and pretty short. Even in the spring and summer the skies are overcast and grey. Not like polution. More like low hanging clouds so you never see blue skies, or the sun for that matter lol.
But this year it seems like spring keeps popping up in little pockets and hidden corners. It is warm enough many plants feel it it worth a shot to come out now.
I guess this is a sign of years to come. Climate change is all over the news everyday now. The effects are here and more to come. If no deep freeze comes at us just when things are starting to bloom like it usually does and kills all the blooms, it could be rather pretty around here in the spring.
Maybe I will get to post flower pictures more often. I hope you enjoy.
I must have been thinking about the cliché trophy wives (or husbands). So you marry the prom queen or rich kid and now you are stuck with someone you can’t even talk to. Maybe thinking that the cover of the book wears thin after a while.
A guide to the illusion and power of glitter. From a distance or at a glance the city is sparkling and alive. Once attracted to the beauty, the spiders surround you in their web and suck your savings dry. No matter how much the glittery thing costs, it’s hard to take it back!
A hard and simple look at the chances most people never have, even though choices are everywhere. Even still, thinking no chance will ever really come, we continue on. Friends would ask me to do some audio gig or help them get their gear set up. More than a few were acting as if they were in debt to me and owed me a big favor. That is where I came up with the first two lines. Then it was clear that for many chances would be rare, but sadistically many are available to others. The best chances you will ever get are Barely Perceptible.
Thoughts of being grounded as a child jumping from a swing to the survivor of a sharing family that watched you to form your tribe. Another reflection of music that ended up creating a bridge to help me communicate with people outside my brain. It is a waste of time claiming to know answers that are unknown. Prayers are wasted since the god you pretend to worship cannot hear.
My lyrics are often preachy. Giving the false impression that I think I know what to do. Empathically linked to people around me I share their perspectives and histories. The failed attempts at secrets and the impossibility to hide lies. Once someone you love or trust has betrayed you with lies even though it holds you frozen for years, you will never let it happen again. Some lessons are painful but better shared early in life or love.
A little self explanatory. I found myself unable to push things faster. Everything seems to be working until the pile-up five minutes before deadline. Soon you begin to spiral in faster than imaginable. No music for this one. I figured it would be good for some sci-fi soundtrack somewhere. Any thoughts let me know.
I mentioned in my first Poetry Pod that I turned the lyrics of my Pet the Cat poem into a song. I had a good time recording this one and tried to make it fun for kids to listen to. Maybe on a rainy day you will sing this song as you pet your cat, or dog, or frog.
Here is Pet the Cat for your family entertainment.
My cynical look at the ‘job’ of being a drug dealer or loan shark, but not just the obvious snakes are included in this song. How far will any of us go just to make a buck?
